The 2022 varsity match between Cambridge and Oxford will be held in London on 17th February. Six team members plus a reserve will compete in a match similar in structure to our Sunday tastings: a flight of six white wines for 40 mins, followed after a short break by a flight of red wines for 40 mins.
Trials for a wider extension team will be held on Monday 17th Jan and Wednesday 19th Jan at 7pm. The selected extension team will train 3-4 times per week (including the Sunday sessions) until shortly before the Varsity match, at which point the final 7 competitors will be chosen. There are also a number of international competitions that extension team members would be eligible for.
You must attend both trials: different wines will be served and your performance over all 24 wines will be taken into account. Trials are closed-book.
Please bring your own water, pen, and set of 6 ISO tasting glasses, available to buy here. Wines, tasting sheets, spittoons and crackers will be provided. Evidence that you are a current student (e.g. student card) will be required on entry to the first trial, and a same-day negative lateral flow result will be required on entry to all sessions this term, including these trials.
