Event Details

France or California? Italy or Australia? Syrah or Shiraz?

In this session, we will explore how to tell where a wine is from. Broadly speaking, ‘Old World’ means Europe, while the ‘New World’ includes the Americas, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. You will learn how to tell whether a wine is an old or new world wine, and we will start to narrow down where different wines could be from, and why.

This week’s session will be led by Victoria Phan, your current CUBWTS Secretary. Victoria is one of the most experienced blind tasters in the society, having been on the wine tasting scene for 8 years and serving on numerous CU Blind Wine Tasting Society and CU Wine Society committees over the years. She is a wonderful wine educator who frequently runs blind wine tasting events both for other university societies and private firms.
