Event Details

The 2023 varsity match between Cambridge and Oxford will be held in London on 16th March. Six team members plus a reserve will compete in a match similar in structure to our Sunday tastings: a flight of six white wines for 40 mins, followed after a short break by a flight of red wines for 40 mins.

Trials for a wider extension team of 14 will be held on Sunday 22nd Jan and Tuesday 24th Jan at 19:30. Team training sessions will be Tuesday evenings, Saturday mornings as well as regular Sunday sessions, with some intermittent guest speaker sessions. Coaches are Nirupa Desai and Will Lowe. Cost of training heavily subsidised by the society. There are also a number of international competitions that extension team members would be eligible for.

You must attend both trials: different wines will be served and your performance over all 24 wines will be taken into account. Trials are closed-book.

Please bring your own water, pen, and set of 6 ISO tasting glasses, available to buy here. Wines, tasting sheets, spittoons and crackers will be provided. Evidence that you are a current student (e.g. student card) will be required on entry to the first trial.

Tickets are limited to one per registered email address. Any tickets purchased from other email addresses will be considered invalid and will be refunded. Feel free to contact Emer (ecj35) with any queries.
